Discover the story of Brian Bittner, a longtime Wooster team member whose CAD drafting, field work, and drone footage help bring engineering projects to life.

If you’ve seen aerial footage of Wooster projects on our website — or on YouTube — there’s a good chance Brian was behind it.

This spring marks 19 years at Wooster, where Brian supports CAD drafting and drone operations across the firm’s traffic, civil, and roadway projects. He also helped launch Wooster’s YouTube page, bringing projects to life from a new perspective.

Brian grew up in Crafton and still lives nearby today, just down the road from Wooster’s original home and the stretch of Crafton Boulevard the firm sponsors through its Adopt-A-Highway program.

Before joining the firm, he spent 10 years as a UPS driver — including stops at the Wooster office.

“I used to joke that maybe someday I’d work here,” he says. “Eventually, I did.”

How long have you been at Wooster?
Coming up on 19 years this April — it’s gone pretty fast when you look back at it.

What exactly do you do here?
I work in CAD drafting , creating the drawings that support our traffic, civil, and roadway engineering projects. It’s a lot of taking what the engineers design and turning it into something that can actually be built.

I also help capture drone footage of projects during construction and after they’re completed, which has been a nice change of pace from being behind the computer.

Favorite Wooster projects?
Two that stand out ar e Bakery Square i n Pittsburgh and the Wheeling Streetscape project.

Wheeling is a big one — it’s been going on for years and covers a long stretch of roadway with new sidewalks, trees, and streetscape improvements. It’s cool to see something that large come together over time.

What do you do outside of work?
My wife and I manage several rental properties, so there’s always something going on — whether it’s a renovation, a repair, or getting a place ready for new tenants.

Lately, most nights after work have been spent working on one project or another.

Favorite Wooster community activity?
The Adopt-A-Highway cleanup along Crafton Boulevard. I live nearby, so it’s nice being able to help take care of an area that’s basically right in my neighborhood.

What keeps you busy these days?

Mostly family, work, and our rental properties. And of course, watching my kids play sports!

Wooster in Texas: Insights from ICSC San Antonio

Supporting Development Across Texas

In February 2026, members of the Wooster team traveled to San Antonio for the ICSC Red River Conference, where developers, retailers, and real estate professionals gathered to discuss the future of retail and mixed-use development across the region.

For Wooster, the trip was an opportunity to strengthen relationships and better understand the markets where our work continues to grow. While our firm has been rooted in Pittsburgh for more than 50 years, our projects increasingly extend beyond Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Today, Wooster is licensed in 17 states, and Texas has quickly become one of the most active regions for our traffic engineering and infrastructure work.

A highlight of the conference was the keynote delivered by Henry Cisneros, who spoke about the scale and momentum of the Texas Triangle—the region connecting Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

As Cisneros explained: “The Texas Triangle is one of the most powerful emerging economic regions in the world.”

The numbers support that statement. Although the region represents just 35 of Texas’ 254 counties, it accounts for roughly two-thirds of the state’s population and more than three-quarters of its economic output. The combined economy of the Texas Triangle now rivals that of entire countries.

That growth is visible on the ground. Across Texas, expanding populations, new manufacturing investment, and continued commercial development are creating demand for thoughtful infrastructure planning and transportation solutions.

Wooster has been fortunate to contribute to projects across the state, including work alongside KFM Engineering & Design, helping support retail and commercial developments that require careful coordination of traffic engineering, site access, and roadway design.

Wooster Selected for 2026 NFL Draft Procurement Program

When the 2026 NFL Draft arrives in Pittsburgh next April, the national spotlight will shine on the city’s North Shore — and Wooster & Associates will be right in the middle of the action.

Wooster & Associates is proud to be among 165+ local businesses selected for the NFL Draft Source Procurement Program, a partnership between the National Football League, VisitPITTSBURGH, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This program is designed to connect regional, event-ready businesses to the subcontracting and planning needs of one of the largest events in Pittsburgh’s history.

A Front-Row Seat on the North Shore

The Draft’s main footprint will unfold across the North Shore and Downtown Pittsburgh, transforming the area around Acrisure Stadium and the Allegheny Riverfront into a three-day festival of sports, community, and culture.

For Wooster & Associates, headquartered just blocks away on the North Shore, the connection feels natural.

Engineering Pittsburgh’s Biggest Weekend

The 2026 NFL Draft Source Program was created to ensure that the excitement of the Draft extends beyond the stadium and benefits the local economy. From construction and logistics to creative, catering, traffic, and event production services, the NFL is tapping into Pittsburgh’s diverse and highly capable business community.

“The NFL recognizes that our small and local businesses are really the backbone of the local economy,” said Myisha Boyce, program lead for the 2026 Draft Source initiative. “We’re bringing in as many local, event-ready businesses as possible to make sure this event reflects the best of Pittsburgh.”

Over 1,800 businesses from 10 Western Pennsylvania counties applied for the program, which was narrowed down to the final 165 through a competitive selection process.

As part of that group, Wooster joins a select network of companies helping shape Pittsburgh’s infrastructure, experience, and operational success during the Draft.

Connecting Local Expertise With a Global Stage

Participation in the Draft Source Program also opens doors for local businesses to network directly with NFL Tier One suppliers, production teams, and prime contractors. These relationships not only support the Draft itself but can create ongoing opportunities that benefit the region well after the event.

Our Associates participate in PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program and the NFL’s Immaculate Collection campaign

At Wooster & Associates, engineering safe roadways is only part of how we care for our communities. We also believe in rolling up our sleeves and investing directly in the neighborhoods we call home.

This month, our Associates came together to clean up along Crafton Boulevard — a stretch of road Wooster proudly sponsors through PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program. Crafton has been part of our story for decades, and while our headquarters are now on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, this act honors our history while we also look ahead to deeper involvement in our new neighborhood.

Armed with gloves, vests, and trash bags, our team spread out across the roadside and hillsides, scouring for litter that too often builds up in high-traffic corridors. From the shoulder of the boulevard to the steep slopes alongside it, Wooster’s Associates covered the area with determination and teamwork — filling more than a dozen bags of debris in just one day.

Leading the effort was Deputy COO Joshua Haydo, P.E., PTOE, joined by COO Jerrod Crosby, P.E., Zach Hayes, Michael Andrewsh, Lori Kirch, Sulei Swai, and Joseph Richammer, among our other Associates. Together, the team made quick work of the cleanup, turning a busy corridor into a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming roadway.

September is recognized nationally as Cleanup Month , with organizations, companies, and volunteers across the country pitching in to clear roadways, parks, and public spaces. Even the NFL is joining the movement with its “Immaculate Collection” cleanup campaign tied to the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. With Wooster now an approved NFL Vendor for the Draft, we’re proud to stand alongside this broader effort of community stewardship.

Beyond collecting litter and debris, efforts like these help protect stormwater systems, improve roadway safety, and show pride in the places we live and work. They also reflect Wooster’s ongoing commitment to Straightforward Solutions and Unwavering Integrity — values we bring both to our projects and our public service.

Where's Wooster? Wooster Traveled to ICAC in Atlantic City to meet with industry leaders on the east coast.

Wooster & Associates hit the highway, traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike to the ICSC Dealmakers conference in Atlantic City, NJ mid-August, from HQ in Crafton, PA.

Gathering with commercial real estate leaders at the show was a beneficial way to meet with our partners from Eastern Pa and the Mid-Atlantic coast, providing a chance to connect in person and relate in 3D about the current state of our industry.

We discussed upcoming projects with current and prospective clients to learn more about their objectives for expansion and growth. Thanks to Bohler, Jersey Mikes, and Pinnacle Development for their time and expertise.

Aligning Wooster's business with these strategic developments throughout Central and Eastern Pa, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, is a part of our company's 'National Vision’ to extend our 'Local Heartbeat', providing Wooster’s legacy transportation engineering and highway design.

This might be a challenging thought for our black and gold bleeding engineers, but it's a gamble we are willing to take to keep those Bird fans safe in their hometown.

He has "embraced the challenge of developing a new department at an established engineering firm," evidenced by how quickly Law ramped up his team and started working on important development projects for our clients.

How long have you been at Wooster?

AL: In October 2023, I started this exciting journey with Wooster to spearhead creating the Site Civil team specializing in Land Development Services. After years of collaboration with the Wooster staff, our shared vision for this department became a reality last year, allowing us to now offer Site Civil services, like preliminary site design, feasibility studies, and master planning, in addition to Wooster's legacy offerings of T raffic Engineering and H ighway Design .

What was your formal training to prepare you for this role?

AL: I hold a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University, backed by over 23 years of industry experience. I have known and worked with the team at Wooster for years, so this opportunity seemed like the next logical move for my career.

What has been your favorite part of your career? Your job?

AL: Like many of my peers in this industry, I am satisfied with seeing my designs and ideas transform into reality. The thrill of shaping a developer's concept into a practical and secure plan is rewarding.

Any major turning points to your career?

Yes! Starting a new job at this point in my career. This specific role with Wooster allowed me to take on the challenge of starting a new department and establishing the foundation for our future at Wooster. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a part of this exciting venture.

Favorite Wooster project?

So far, it has been ideating the game plan for the Site Civil team, from establishing our people and project goals, to implementing them into daily reality. It has been fun introducing these land services to the industry in the Pittsburgh area, and beyond. My team has begun work on several single and multi-family residential developments, and we are already seeing Wooster’s contribution to local growth.

Where are you from?

I am from Pittsburgh’s North Hills and am a proud graduate of North Allegheny High School.

Who has been a source of inspiration for you?

Most certainly, my family! No matter what, they never stop supporting me.

Favorite Wooster event?

For my first assignment with Wooster, I traveled to Uruguay for our annual strategic planning session with the other executives. It was a memorable introduction to the larger organization and my new coworkers! Seeing South America was a bonus to all the strategy sessions.

What brings you joy outside of work?

I am an avid reader, particularly history. I also enjoy working in my woodshop and traveling with my family. We often visit Germany and explore the local towns from there.

What is your favorite motto?

"All that glitters isn’t gold" because it reminds me that substance is more important than surface. I use this to guide me through challenging negotiations on my projects, ensuring the best for our clients, and the safety of our communities, always.

Wooster's champion for public safety, Senior Traffic Engineer and Deputy COO, Josh Haydo, talks traffic around the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh in 2026 and his engineering work in 14 states.

If you have worked on any commercial or residential developments in western PA in the past decade or so, then you likely have worked w ith Josh Haydo , Wooster’s Senior Traffic Engineer and Deputy COO.

Josh has been the champion of safety for drivers and pedestrians in our new and legacy communities of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and West Virgina, and is officially licensed as a Professional Engineer in fourteen states.

Day-to-day, Josh and his team analyze projects and provide comprehensive recommendations for ways to incorporate roadway and pedestrian improvements to the developing area.

A major part of Josh’s role is educating municipalities and other stakeholders – such as community members, business owners, and political leaders – on how proposed developments and associated improvements will benefit the community.

Josh recently attended the Great Lakes ITE Annual Meeting in Green Bay, WI, and was inspired by hearing the Green Bay Packers discuss their traffic plans for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft ahead of Pittsburgh hosting the festivities in 2026.

Read on below about Josh’s time with Wooster and how he finds inspiration in starting and completing new projects in and around his own hometown in western PA and surrounding states.

How long have you been at Wooster?

JH: Since January 2013. Hard to believe I have been with Wooster for over a decade. I’ve enjoyed seeing the steady growth of partnerships and our employees.

What was your formal training to prepare you for this role?

JH: I have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech. Go Hokies!

To stay current with industry requirements and trends, I participate in ongoing education courses and seminars. Recently, we traveled to Green Bay for the Great Lakes ITE Annual

It was an opportunity to meet our partners in that area while earning continuing education credits and seeing some really cool new technology. We toured Lambeau Field and learned firsthand from the Green Bay Packers how they are preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. It’s exciting that Pittsburgh will host the 2026 NFL Draft right next to Wooster’s new office on the North Shore.

What has been your favorite part of your career? Your job?

JH: Making the transition from highway design at my first job in Virginia to traffic operations in Pittsburgh, which is what led me to Wooster. My favorite part of my job is seeing projects that I studied all over the place, everywhere I go. I really enjoy contributing to revitalizing areas and helping improve what infrastructure is already there.

Any major turning points to your career?

The switch from highway design to traffic was almost entirely because I wanted to return to Pittsburgh to be close to my family…and because I just missed this town. Moving into Traffic was a little scary, because didn’t have a ton of real-world experience when I first interviewed at Wooster. But it turned out to be the best career decision I ever made.

Favorite Wooster project?

The Sheetz in Ellwood City, because it’s my hometown. Ellwood City is a legacy town, and there aren’t lot of new developments in the area, so I was excited to study and design improvements in an area that I knew so well.

It was fun to see former neighbors, teachers, and classmates participating in the local meetings and, eventually, at the grand opening. Connecting with those folks is a very rewarding part of the job, regardless of the area.

Where are you from?

Ellwood City, PA. For those who aren’t familiar with that area, it’s about an hour north of Pittsburgh. As more folks relocate to Pennsylvania, it’s great to see my hometown attract new businesses and families, and to be able to help grow my local area from a professional standpoint through my work at Wooster & Associates.

Who has been a source of inspiration for you?

My mom. I love my job and what I do, but that comes with highs and lows from day to day because not everything goes smoothly. My mom reminds me that it’s great to love what you do, but that there’s also more to life than work – for better or worse!

Favorite Wooster event?

Lunchtime Pirate games at PNC Park. We’ve been going to at least one game as a team each season, and it’s the perfect way to bond with my coworkers and enjoy our great city. With Wooster’s office relocating to the North Shore at the end of this year, I’m even more excited about cheering on the Pirates from right across the street!

What brings you joy outside of work?

Running and biking in downtown Pittsburgh! It’s fun to explore the city from a two-wheel perspective. Bonus: trying new places to eat! There are so many good places to eat in Pittsburgh.

What is your favorite motto?

I once heard it said much more eloquently, but I was never able to find that exact phrasing again. But, basically, “the hardest part to finishing anything is getting started.” I often dread a task, but once I finally stop putting it off and just do it, it’s almost always easier than expected, and I regret spending so much time worrying about it. (Editor’s note: that’s the trouble of perfectionism...!)

Associates of Wooster - Doug Hill, Senior Traffic Engineer

Learn about Doug Hill, Senior Traffic Engineer & Manager of State College, PA Office at Wooster & Associates.

As an expert in Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Doug Hill has dedicated 27 years to Wooster & Associates and currently holds the position of Senior Traffic Engineer and manager of the State College, PA office.

Starting at the headquarters in Crafton and launching Wooster’s State College office in the early 2000s, Doug has been instrumental in expanding Wooster’s presence in North and Central Pennsylvania. As he says, “deadlines are hit, projects are moving, and clients are happy.”

Doug and his team are actively growing Wooster’s portfolio. "I am open to all projects, but I am particularly focused on continuing to expand our market area further east into Pennsylvania through our existing partnerships and by creating new ones."

How long have you been at Wooster?

DH: 27 Years as of June 16th!

What was your formal training to prepare you for this role?

DH: I studied Civil Engineering at Penn State University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1997. I started at Wooster right after graduating and started managing projects immediately, so it was a lot of on-the-job training and learning.

What has been your favorite part of your career? Your job?

DH: I always enjoy seeing a development that we worked on after it’s completed. It feels satisfying that I played a small role in helping something that is now serving the public come to fruition.

Favorite Wooster event?

The Christmas parties.

Any major turning points to your career?

In 2003 we opened a branch office in State College and I was asked to manage that location. It involved more self-accountability as I was the only employee in the State College location, so it sped up my growth as an engineer and project manager.

Favorite Wooster project?

It’s an old one, but I would say the Colonnade at State College. We worked on that project in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It was a very large project with a lot of intersections, new roadway connections and infrastructure, multiple new traffic signals, etc. It was a challenging project and thus a good one to experience early in my career. I still shop at the Colonnade regularly, so the memories never fade.

Where are you from?

Chambersburg, PA. It has been great working and living in this area, especially now as developments continue to make Central PA a great place to live.

Who has been a source of inspiration for you?

My parents. Both instilled a strong work ethic and strong sense of integrity for my sister, brother, and me. And they have provided unconditional love and support for the whole family as it has grown through the years.

What brings you joy outside of work?

Traveling with my wife. Going to Penn State football games.

What is your favorite motto?

If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.

One of his standout projects in Meadowlands, PA involved meticulous analysis of local trip data to ensure the implementation of the safest development plans.

How long have you been with Wooster & Associates?

SS: My time at Wooster has been quite the adventure, spanning over 2.5 years since I first stepped through those doors in October 2021. It's been a series of continuous learning, growth, and memorable experiences that have shaped me both personally and professionally.

What was your formal training to prepare you for this role?

SS: Over the course of several years, I immersed myself in the intricacies of Civil Engineering, earning both a bachelor's and master's degrees. To gain hands-on experience, I worked as a site engineer for construction sites in Tanzania, a research assistant at Tennessee State University, and a transportation engineer at the Maryland State Highway Administration. These experiences have equipped me with the practical skills necessary to excel in my current position.

What has been your favorite part of your career? Your job?

SS: When it comes to my career, what I cherish the most is the thrill of problem-solving. There is something incredibly fulfilling about navigating complex situations, anticipating challenges, and coming up with innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients while also enhancing the well-being of the communities at large.

Can you tell us more about your role?

As a Staff Engineer Traffic, my responsibilities include preparing Traffic Impact Studies, Trip Generation Evaluations, Sight Distance Evaluations, Parking Demand Evaluations, Crash Analysis Reports, as well as Queuing and Stacking Reports. I enjoy the variety of tasks that come with my role and welcome new challenges with enthusiasm.

Any major turning points to your career?

One moment in my career journey that stands out vividly is when I decided to leave my job at a construction company in Tanzania and pursue a master's degree in the US. This choice has opened countless doors for growth and fulfilment, and I am proud to say that I have since attained the certification of Professional Engineer. I am excited to see what other opportunities lie ahead.

Favorite Wooster project?

One of the most rewarding projects I had the privilege to work on was the transformation of a convenience store in Meadowlands, PA. Given its proximity to the intersection, we had to carefully factor in diverted trips alongside the standard primary and pass-by traffic.

My expertise and adherence to industry standards enhanced my skills and showcased our team's diverse capabilities. Looking back, this project stands out as a truly remarkable achievement in my career.

What is your favorite Wooster event to attend?

When it comes to Wooster events, there's something special about our company dinners. It's more than just a gathering; it's a celebration of our collective achievements, a chance to connect with colleagues on a deeper level and foster a sense of community that transcends the workplace.

Where are you from?

I am from Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. It is home to the tallest free-standing mountain in the world and is filled with natural beauty and cultural richness. Being rooted in this vibrant locale serves as a constant source of inspiration, reminding me of the resilience, diversity, and boundless potential that define my identity.

Who has been a source of inspiration for you?

When reflecting on sources of inspiration, I can't help but acknowledge the unwavering support of my parents. Their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in my abilities have been the guiding force behind my journey, propelling me forward even in the face of adversity.

What brings you joy outside of work?

And outside the realm of work that's where true joy resides. Nothing compares to the sheer delight of spending quality time with my beloved wife (Zaujia) and two precious children (Suhaifa and Nureen), basking in the warmth of their laughter and the simple pleasures of family bonds.

What is your favorite motto?

For a motto, I offer this from my upbringing: "Be thankful and compare yourself with those who have less than you. This way, you will always be reminded of the blessings around you, even during the toughest times." This provided a lot of inspiration when I first started my career.

How long have you been at Wooster?

LK: I started with this company 27 years ago in 1997!

What was your formal training to prepare you for this role?

LK: My formal training in computer drafting at CCAC has provided me with a solid foundation, but it's the ongoing learning process and adapting to the changes in our industry that have truly shaped my role.

What has been your favorite part of your career? Your job?

LK: One of the most fulfilling aspects of my career has been the opportunity to exercise creativity and apply my knowledge. There's a sense of satisfaction in crafting a plan that seamlessly integrates the software with what I've learned, making everything come together harmoniously.

Can you tell us more about your role?

LK: In my role as a Senior CAD Technician, I am responsible for drafting various plans ranging from small highway occupancy plans to larger roadway widening and signal plans.

Recently, I had the exciting opportunity to participate in a 'signal turn on,' where we tested the functionality of an intersection we had designed. Seeing our work in action was a rewarding experience and knowing that we played a crucial role in making it happen.

Have there been any pivotal moments in your career journey?

LK: I pride myself on being a steadfast and consistent presence. In today's world where job hopping is prevalent, I find fulfillment in my enduring commitment to Wooster throughout my career.

What project stands out to you at Wooster?

LK: Jackson Township has been a standout project for me, along with larger-scale endeavors like our first roundabout project. The intricate design work and integration of signals added a new level of versatility that I thoroughly enjoyed.

What is your favorite Wooster event to attend?

LK: I love the Pirate games! There's nothing like enjoying the nice weather and camaraderie with my coworkers at these company events.

What is your hometown?

LK: I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, born and raised.

Who has been a source of inspiration for you?

LK: My dad has always been the unwavering cheerleader for our entire family, standing by us and providing unwavering support.

What brings you joy outside of work?

Cheering on my children, Alexis, a student at the University of Tennessee, and Cameron, a ninth-grader, in both their academic pursuits and on the sports field.

What is your favorite motto?

LK: My husband's favorite mantra is "Don't give up, don't ever give up," inspired by the legendary basketball coach Jimmy V. I make sure to send this empowering message to my son before his games as a reminder to stay resilient and determined.
